Visiting Coaches

  • Laura Anderson

Born and raised in St. Stephen New Brunswick, Laura is a St. Croix Skating Club alum and she is absolutely thrilled to be offering a learn-to-skate program in our community! Laura's decade long skating career began when she was just 4 years old. She first participated in the CanSkate program offered right here in St. Stephen at the Border Arena.

After a few years of being coached locally, her competitive skating took her on the road to be coached all over the province; from summer camps in Moncton and later, to year-around training in Fredericton. Her long list of achievements in the sport span from Regional to National level competitions, including being ID'd by Skate Canada's Talent Scout, meeting and learning from Olympic athletes and coaches, and being named a member of the New Brunswick Competitive Team.

With all that said, the medals, test scores and team titles weren't the biggest takeaways from her experience participating in the sport. Most importantly, being involved in skating taught Laura the importance of goal-setting, sportsmanship, a strong work ethic, discipline and determination; all skills that she has taken into adulthood and applied in life.

As a previously NCCP trained CanSkate Coach, Laura brings a depth of understanding the fundamentals of early skating skills and how they apply to each ice sport. In her time coaching, she worked primarily with children looking to enter the sport of hockey. She is excited to work once again with first year players or kids who perhaps have never skated before, to help them gain confidence in their skills and abilities.
